Preparing for Pest Control
How to prepare your home for a pest control treatment...
There are some things we recommend you do to help prepare your home for a pest control treatment and there are certain things you MUST do. Modern day pest control is relatively safe and effective but we still need to take precautions to protect your family and your pets. You also need to make certain areas of our home accessible for the technician in order to treat certain areas for a successful outcome.
Things you MUST do before we come
- Ensure no pets or people will be present during the treatment
- Put away any food utensils and uncovered food (eg; fruit bowls)
- Put away any pet food or water bowls
- Cover any fish tanks, fish ponds or reptile enclosures. If unable to be covered you must advise us of their location
- Do you know if your immediate neighbours have a fishpond adjacent to your fence ?
- Close all windows tight
Things we RECOMMEND you do before we come
- Make the skirting boards around the interior of your home accessible, this may mean pulling furniture or items away from the walls where practical - our tehnician can only treat the areas he can get to
- Clear some space in the back of wardrobes and the cupboards beneath the kitchen sink and laundry tub
- Put away any small children's toys
- Advise us of any particular pest problems you have been experiencing
Things to do ON COMPLETION of the pest control treatment
- Open doors and windows; increased airflow will help the treated areas dry
- Do not walk barefoot on treated areas still wet
- Do not walk barefoot on carpets treated for fleas for 24 hours
- Do not allow pets or children back into the property until treated areas have dried; the residue usually dries within 4 hours
- Do not mop floors for 24 hours
